Since launching YARN Projects in 2016, we have donated all profits to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF), a not-for-profit, national charity of the Australian Book Industry.
ILF's vision is to make a positive difference in the lives of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children by focusing on ways to improve their literacy levels. To read more about ILF and stories about the work they do, take a look at the ILF website.
Your purchases have helped to provide books to kids in remote Australia as well as supporting the Book Buzz program run by the ILF. This program introduces books and literacy resources to Indigenous children through playgroups, preschools and health care centres in remote communities.
It encourages early reading and engagement with books, helping young kids to start school with pre-literacy skills and greater confidence.
It also encourages family reading time, many in first language, with children. This also empowers the parents and carers as role models and instils a love of storytelling in the community.
